JULY FAVORITES: food + sunscreen + beauty care

IMG_0900.jpg

What a vibrant, sunny month July has been! Coming home for the summer after my co-op, instead of taking classes in Boston, was definitely the right move. I've loved spending time with my family + friends in our quaint little beach town...and being able to drive, as opposed to having to walk home (with piles of food) from the grocery store.  In this list, I'm talking about some old, as well as a few new, products* that I am head over heels for. Check them out!

JULY FAVORITES - food, sunscreen, + beauty care | Wholesomely Hannah

Alba Botanica Very Emollient Sunblock - Facial - SPF 30I am loving Alba's entire sunscreen line, but this has been my favorite product. When applied, it feels like a soothing moisturizer, and it doesn't go on white (which is what many natural sunscreens do). It also doesn't clog my pores -- always a win! What's most important is that Alba doesn't use Oxybenzone, which is among the most dangerous chemicals found in conventional sunscreens (even Neutrogena). Read more about troubling sunscreen ingredients here.

ORIGINS Out of Trouble 10 Minute Mask:  For anyone with acne or pimples, I cannot recommend a product better than THIS. I use this mask as a spot treatment for random blemishes that pop up from time to time (for me, they're mostly caused by stress). I know, I know, it says "10 Minute Mask". I've used it like that before, but lately, I've been putting it on problem areas at night, going to bed, & washing it off in the morning.

It's the most effective spot treatment I have ever used. My sister tried it last night for the first time; she, my mom, and I all noticed a HUGE difference in her skin's clarity today. The zinc oxide, sulfur, and camphor clay in this mask work like magic together. It's $30, but I've been using my same bottle for well over a year & a half. Safe to say that it is WORTH IT. Get it here

Alter Eco Dark Blackout Organic Chocolate: Fair-trade Certified, soy lecithin-free, and paleo/vegan friendly, my family & I easily can put away one of these chocolate bars in 24 hours. It's semi-dangerous how rich, bold, and delicious this thing is. My perfect dessert! Another really good bar by Alter Eco is their Deep Dark Sea Salt Chocolate. If you aren't into the super dark flavors, they have so many other options, too! I highly recommend this brand.

Not Your Mother's - Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray:  I've used this to make my naturally straight hair full of texture & loose, beach-y waves for years. It's a cheap, go-to product that works. I'm always way too impatient to style "beach hair" with a curling iron. Luckily, I don't have to because of THIS

Glutino Gluten Free Pretzel TwistsButtery (although dairy-free), crunchy, & salty, these are one of the best snacks -- especially while on the boat or at the beach. I like to have them with almond butter (obviously) or garlic hummus! One time, we crushed them up and used them as breadcrumbs for our DF/GF mac & cheese by Daiya. Yes, please.

P.S. There is soy lecithin & corn starch in these, but if your body can tolerate those two ingredients, then you should be good to go.  IMG_0897
