For the price you can''t beat the functionality.

Things to know:

1. The whole product is removable without tools.

Think about how you will secure this to your car. The rack allows you to lock the bikes, but the whole rack can be removed without tools. I used some steel cable weaved through the racks to deteer anyone from taking it.

2. Lock when not in use

The rack locks will work themselves off in the wind or with bumps. The part can be purchased from another website for $8 plus shipping or you can get a nut from the hardware store for .25.

Overall this works for my needs and is a good price when buying for multiple bikes.

To some of the reviewers who said it''s rather flimsy or wobbly, I don''t know what they''re expecting for $40. I used two bungee straps as well with this rack, but I''d have done that with a $200 rack. This is a great purchase for the money. In addition, I lost one of the tie-down straps that go around the wheels. I called their customer service and they couldn''t have been friendlier. They mailed me a few more straps in case I lose another one. Thanks!

I bought 4 of these to put on the roof rack of my camper for a big road trip. They held our bikes (including my husband''s fancy $$ bike) in place for 4700 miles no problem. They were super easy to install once I got the hang of it, although the package came with an extra screw that had me worried until I contacted customer service and they said that it was a hold over from their previous model.
For the price, these bike racks are great. I was not about to drop $600-800 on racks, esp for my kids'' $50 bikes. The little red plastic peices that clamp on the bike do tend to fall off, and it would be nice if the straps were permanently attached so I didn''t have to worry about keeping track of them when the bikes aren''t on. Also, climbing up on the camper and bending over to latch or unlatch 4 bikes isn''t super easy on the back. I also can''t tell how easy it would be to steal a bike - there''s a lock on the part that attaches to the bike, but the part that attaches the rack to the roof rails could easily be removed by hand and then the bike/rack combo slid off. I did use an additional heavy duty cable lock when we parked overnight at hotels.
All in all I would recommend these racks, even if I do see room for improvement

It does actually work! It definitely looks and kinda feels cheap but for like 40 bucks, it will do! I was a bit confused on installing it but after I figured out what I was really doing it was a piece of cake! I kinda was hoping it was going to be easy on easy off but I probably won’t be removing it off the car unless I absolutely have to. As for putting my bike on there it’s actually pretty easy, the lock for the bottom bar of the bike is a bit tricky/ flimsy But it does work and keeps the bike in place. I have a 2019 27.5 giant mountain bike so it barely fits on the rack and the front tire I can not lock down with the added straps. The back one straps down but not the front. It was an easy fix to correct that, I just found a long strap that will work for now. So far it works well and keeps the bike mostly in place, I’m a bit paranoid about it since I have had a kayak fall from the top roof of the car when I was driving once. The last thing I wanna say is that I’m afraid of going super fast with it but so far I have reached speeds up to 50-55mph and it doesn’t feel any different from just driving the car without the bike on top! Just did like 80-90 mph with the bike on since I went to a bike park at a ski resort. So I say money well spent!!!

I just needed a replacement knob so I reached out to customer support and was told to buy it off their website. After finding the knob for $8 I thought it was smooth sailing until there was a $15 shipping cost. I purchased my rack used for $30... so this replacement knob is going to almost cost me the price of a full rack?? Figured I better put the money towards a Thule rig so this doesn’t happen again.

I recently bought this as I needed a roof rack for my bike. I drove from Washington DC to Los Angeles with no problems at all. I mounted it to my Yakima Q Tower system, and experienced no issues - installation took me maybe 15 minutes?

I was a little worried about the bike shifting left and right, because the rack felt a little flimsy, so I used a little twine on the bike for stability. The twine broke in Tennessee, but I experienced no problems. One word to the wise - remember you have this thing in your car in a drive through.

My mission was to get 5 bikes on the rood of my van. I purchased this mount, and a double mount from another manufacturer. The double mount was more than twice the price of this mount (but far from the fancy name brand price tag), but it provided a more secure feeling attachment, so I purchased another one of that rather than two more of these to round out to system. Since I have to haul 5 bikes, I will keep this one, and place it between the two doubles.

This mounting system is not bad for the price, and it is fine for hauling your bike to the local rendezvous point for a group ride, but I am outfitting my rig for a multi-week family vacation with hundreds of miles of driving, so I wanted something a little sturdier, even if it meant spending a few more dollars.

After using this for a few trips, I''m replacing it with a better mount. There are a couple of issues I have with this rack. 1. the clamp does not open easily; the hole for the bolt is about the same size as the bolt so the clamp hangs up on the threads of the bolt. This makes it very difficult to open the clamp to fit around my bike''s tube. For other bikes this might not be an issue, but I have a wide, squareish tube. The shape of the tube and the shape of the rubber faces of the clamp also mean it gets hung up trying to fit onto the bike. It''s also very difficult to open the clamp with one hand, since the other hand is making sure my bike doesn''t fall on my head. 2. The clamp head is not secure to the arm of the rack, meaning the bike has a tendency to rock side to side in the mount. For short hops around town, I don''t consider this an issue, but there''s no way I''d ever want to use this rack at highway speeds. On bumpy roads you can hear the bike shifting side to side and it''s very unnerving. Same with turning. I would be very concerned the rack could just snap off on a hard enough turn or with a heavy enough bike.

It was fairly easy to assemble, the straps and metal feel sturdy enough and my bike fit in without any issues. There is some wiggle when cornering or going over rough terrains but I’ve been satisfied with its performance over the last month. I’ve used it 4 times on 2-3 hour drives. It’s not the highest quality product I’ve ever bought but seems like decent value for the money.

I hemmed and hawwed about which bike rack to get. I asked myself over and over again how could I spend a good chunk of change on a bike and then cheap out on a rack? Wasn''t I worried it would just fall apart? alas, here we are.. purchasing a <$70 bike rack on Amazon. It''s sturdier than my husband and I had anticipated. The maiden voyage was 20 miles on the highway and my bike was still on top of the SUV when we reached our destination, so I''d say that''s a win. I''m curious to see how well it holds up over time. This is where I suspect it differs from the more expensive models- Especially if it''s left attached to the top of the vehicle for a few months at a time and has to endure some weather. I bought two racks. only one came with keys. The key seems to work for both racks, which is both a relief and mildly concerning. Packages were delayed for a few weeks. It was nice when they did finally arrive about two weeks after we were hoping to use them for the first time. Installation was okay. it wasn''t complicated. but the instructions and diagrams did not match the equipment provided. So if your toolbelt consists of a pen and a checkbook, you might struggle doing this yourself. If you can use deductive reasoning, you''ll do just fine.

I''ve always wanted to bring bikes to camping. this year, i finally put together a Thule roof rack for next season. since we have a sedan, wheels wont have space inside so i needed an upright bike rack. this fit the bill perfectly! price was much better than other brands and so far its been good. i''ve loaded 2 bike racks with 2 bikes and around the city it has performed well. as to other reviewers saying these are unstable, i think those may be user errors as i dont have any movement for the times ive put bikes one them. the picture has a youth 24" which i loaded alone, but i also did 2 adult mtb with no issues as well. when you lock the knob on the frame, this disengages the knob so it cannot twist anymore. this may be the issue that others were mentioning where they have come undone. i can see that they can come undone if they arent locked, but when you lock the knobs, they stay tensioned as you left them. i was considering getting used racks but for the price these go for, why not get new? looking forward taking these on longer distances. so far so good!
